I never knew how much my NICU Journey affected me until months and months later. As, I write this, my son is a month away from being 1 year old. It has almost been a year since I gave birth to my baby boy.
Being in the NICU was scary. I didn’t know what to expect. When I was first admitted and all the doctors came in to talk to us, we just didn’t know what to think. We just had to be positive that if I were to give birth early, our son would be in the best care.
I started NICUBrave because I wanted to find a way to give back to the NICU community. The staff at Kapiolani Medical Center gave us the best care and we are so grateful. I am personally in the process of creating NICU Brave bags for Mother’s Day with hopes we can continue to do this for special holidays with the right funding and support.
